Call for Storytellers & Artists – Ordinary Wonders 2026

Hikitia! invites storytellers and artists to join the next phase of Ordinary Wonders in 2026.

This kaupapa celebrates the quiet magic of everyday life – the moments that connect us to whānau, culture, and community. In Phase Two, local amateur and established artists will be paired with “ordinary wonders” stories written by members of our community. Each artist will create an artwork inspired by these stories, which will be exhibited at Refinery ArtSpace and gifted back to the storytellers whose experiences they represent.

We invite:

·       Community members to share everyday moments that hold meaning - their own Ordinary Wonders.

·       Artists to transform these stories into uplifting works of art that honour and celebrate them.

Together, we’ll spark reflection, strengthen community connections, and contribute to the prevention of family and sexual violence by elevating protective factors through creativity and collaboration.
