Be There Aotearoa

Why workplaces matter

Family violence doesn't stay at home. It follows people to work — affecting concentration, attendance, performance, and safety. Workplaces are also places where harmful behaviours begin and escalate: bullying, harassment, discrimination, and coercive dynamics that go unchecked because people don't know how to respond, or don't feel safe to.

That makes workplaces one of the most powerful places to intervene. When leaders and teams have the skills to recognise harm and respond well, they don't just create safer workplaces — they contribute to safer communities.

Be There Aotearoa — for workplaces

Be There Aotearoa is RISE's workplace culture change programme, delivered exclusively in Aotearoa by RISE. Developed and evaluated by Griffith University, it gives teams and leaders a practical framework for everyday action: call in, check in, switch, and champion.

This is not a one-off compliance workshop. Be There works with your organisation to understand your context, tailor training to your workforce, and build capability that lasts. Programmes range from team workshops to executive leadership training to specialised sessions on responding to disclosures.

Over 90% of participants report increased confidence to recognise harm and step in safely. Organisations report stronger trust, earlier intervention, and teams that hold each other to a higher standard — not through policing, but through genuine culture change.‍
